All about Swag in Social Media
Swag is great. Social media engagement is even better. Merge the two for an even the biggest impact.
There are a few ways to boost your social media engagement with the promotional products handed out at trade shows, conferences, fun runs, and at the office or store. By inviting users to visit the brand’s social media pages, you’ll increase your following and stay top-of-mind long after the branded water bottle is misplaced and the company t-shirt wears thin.
Put your social media handles on cups, bags and snack wrappers.
You’re already putting your logo on products; add your Twitter handle or link to your Facebook page, too. Consumers will assume you are online but they won’t make the effort to search for the right page. Make it easy on them. Plus, the prompt will give them a reason to log on to social media before they forget.
Create a hashtag specifically for the event, campaign or item you’re sharing.
Give consumers a reason to tweet. Invite them post about where or how they’re using the product. Ask them to tag your company and share their experience of using the product or meeting your team. If it’s a trade show or conference, have them tweet about their favorite booth or speaker, including your hashtag. Be sure to retweet or respond to thank them when appropriate. Everyone loves getting recognized by his or her favorite brands online.
Invite users to post photos with the item
Just like with the hashtag, you’re giving them a reason to share your brand and be in the spotlight. Since the product received will last longer than the event or campaign, invite them post a photo or message whenever they use the product. If they wear your sunglasses at the next 5k, they can use the hashtag printed on the item to bring attention to your brand days, weeks or months after the first impression. This keeps the conversation going and other followers will want your swag, too.
