So what do you make of glow sticks?
Usually associated with having a good time, glow sticks (for obvious reasons) are often used for the nighttime party scene. There is even a thing called ‘glowsticking’ – a form of dance where glow sticks are used.
Contrary to popular belief, there are other more ways where glow sticks are used. For instance, they are the only acceptable form of light source after natural disasters because they require no external energy to use. Glow sticks are also waterproof, disposable and can generate a reasonable amount of heat for short term use. These are just some of the reasons why law enforcement and life saving organizations stock up on glow sticks. Glow sticks are used by campers and divers as well. They’re so useful that even Lara Croft keeps them in her utility bag:
But have you ever wondered though how glow sticks come to glow?
The answer is a phenomenon called Chemiluminescence. Simply put, it means that a glow stick contains chemicals or substances that produce light when combined. This is what happens when we ‘crack’ a glow stick – we break the thin barrier between the substances.
Now on to the fun stuff! We know you are familiar with the usual uses for glow sticks – necklaces, drumsticks, bracelets. Now, here are a few new ideas to amp up your next glow and the dark party or gig!
It is important to make sure that the sticks are securely attached to the blades of the fan to avoid any leaks or injury. Other than that, it makes any boring old fan into an interesting light source. IF you have more time, this is also a great idea:
Make things more interesting by acquiring a couple of glow in the dark cups, martini glasses or straws. We love how they come in so many colors!
Glow sticks can serve as admission IDs to an event. However, these pendants can also contain your company’s logo and contact information. Hey, subtle hints like these make for good advertising without stressing your customers.
