Not All Superheroes Wear Capes

ONe TRue LOVe, an non-profit based out of Phoenix, dedicated to finding, feeding, and enriching the lives of the homeless started with very humble beginnings. Krysten Aldridge began seeking out folks who simply needed a hug and a cup of soup. Food brings people together, but what makes ONe TRue LOVe different is that they work to enrich the lives of people forgotten by society. “You see, the piece that we bring to the table has nothing to do with food. It has to do with LOVe…With seeing people in a way that validates & honors regardless of whatever might be happening on the outside. Food is simply an excuse to start that conversation.” said Krysten. Over the course of 5 years, ONe TRue LOVe has served over 36,000 meals to the homeless in the Arizona valley and with their new food truck they hope to increase their impact by 500%

Lemonade fundraisers are an essential part of ONe True LOVe food truck events and festivals serving the best organic lemonade in the world to raise money and awareness to the cause. During food rescue events, volunteers collect food waste from grocers and restaurants during the week and turn them into a full on menu to feed people on the streets. Blow out events, themed parties thrown every 6 weeks, is how ONe TRue LOVe started out. Donations of hygiene products, dog food, water, snacks and other essentials are also collected. Fun items based around the events are also collected such as footballs, bandanas, lip balm and even sunglasses.

ONe TRue LOVe uses custom branded wayfarer sunglasses to promote their cause. For every pair of sunglasses sold one pair is donated to someone on the streets. So far One True Love has given away over 300 pairs! “It is pretty magical to be driving around Phoenix and see our branded sunglasses on most street corners!” Krysten said.

Within the next 5 years Krysten hopes to have regular food events scheduled with celebrity chefs helping to craft menus. “I also would like to bring our food truck to impoverished neighborhoods with our “pay as you can” concept, offering food and nutritional education classes for those who might not know the impact nutrition has on their lives.”

Their kindness and generosity has inspired local residents to volunteer and contribute to the mission. Are you interested in becoming a volunteer? You can email Krysten at for details & ways you can be a part of the magic.
